1. bring or send us your broken device
You can bring your device to our San Jose lab, request free, secure, door-to-door courier pickup (available within hours throughout the Bay Area), or send it via UPS using our free shipping label.
If you prefer courier pickup or UPS, email us at restore@kotar.us or use the form on our home page to request a free shipping label. Please include your address, phone number, and contact details for the recovery estimate.
2. free evaluation
Once we receive your device, we examine it carefully to estimate the success rate and exact cost of recovery. We provide this evaluation FREE of charge, usually within 1–2 hours.

3. how fast do you need your data back
Depending on the urgency, we offer two tiers of data recovery services:
Standard service
Recovery is performed during regular business hours.
Express service
Recovery begins immediately and continues 24/7 until finished, usually within 72 hours. An additional 50% fee applies, but is waived if recovery takes longer than 72 hours. Express priority continues at no extra cost.
4. data recovery
After we receive your order confirmation, we start with the data recovery process which usually takes from 7-10 business days.
All work is done in-house.
5. where to put your recovered data
You may choose one of three options:
Provide your own new hard drive.
Purchase a new hard drive from us.
Borrow a loaner drive FREE of charge (with refundable deposit).
For small amounts of data, we can transfer to a USB key or CD.
6. pick up or delivery
You can pick up your recovered data in person, or have it shipped back to you via courier or UPS.
7. secure data deletion
After you confirm your recovered data, we permanently and securely erase all copies from our servers. Any unwanted drives can be physically destroyed at no extra cost.
